Fighting For

Fighting For

A Poem by Siren

caught in the middle of a war
don't know what I'm fighting for

what's at stake in this strife?
in the balance hangs my life

once again I'm back to the blade
and doing things that you forbade

but you don't understand the pain inside
how i must run, how i must hide

will i get out, will i get through?
there's no telling when I'm at war with you

you stupid girl, you wicked w***e
you've taken all you needed and more

you fill your stomach with wine and food
sucking the life from everything good

remember your days,
forsake your ways

One is calling you
with honey and dew

be rescued again, be restored, be free
rejoice and praise on bended knee

yet in darkness i crawl
ignoring the call

hardening my heart
and tearing myself apart

from the one true Love
that so many speak of

faithless I am, faithless I'll be
let every woman take a lesson from me

if you find a Lover who fills your soul
take note--he is the one who makes you whole

caught in the middle of a terrible war
it's love and life I'm fighting for
