Downfall

Downfall

A Poem by kelly
"

Reykjavik inspires me with metaphors related to nature. This is one written as days lengthen and the shadow of night permeates the day...

"

Goodbye harbinger of dawn

   summer’s sweet companion

whose fleeting glimpses

    cast lusty orange glow

on past conquests.

Stalked by oncoming night

    that stealthy panther

who pursues your fading glory

    while, wounded, you limp

palely winding down from the sky

   crimson spilling from jagged gash

ebbing life, spirit, and soul.
