I Remember a Road

I Remember a Road

A Poem by Liz Gonzales Aguilar

"
There is a road in my memory
that the world could never steal.
it leads to a clothesline
where striped socks hang.
it leads to a mango tree, a starry sky,
a door that is always open.
now i take this road again
because i need a sparrow track,
a lullaby.

i remember a long road.
it leads to a shoulder,
a golden morning.
