La Playa Negra

La Playa Negra

A Poem by Markalark
"

I think this was at first written for a class and re-worked a few times over

"

caught in the morning stars fading fast
a last glimpse at yesterday, my past
sand slipping through your fingertips
the hapless crew 'board sinking ships
ghosts of your best friends, forever
sunk on high seas by stormy weather,

and now no place to turn or go to
hands are dirty, grains are few.
the footprints lead out off the shore
but i can follow them no more.

i can follow them no more.

This is beautiful, well-written, and thought-provoking. Everything a poem should be in my opinion. I especially love the repetition of the last two lines. The poem is short, but it is not hard to grasp an image from. Great job.
