my mistake

my mistake

A Poem by Shelby Everleigh

I made a mistake,
a horrid mistake,
a mistake I can not come back from.

I romanticized the rain,
I fell in love with the pain,
I let it overwhelm me.

I watched the blood fall down
making its way through walls, made up by my hair.
carrying with it the pain that my heart felt,
turning it empty again.

I danced with death,
a lovely dance,
one that cured my heart.

if only I knew,
that soon I too
would be without one at all

I enjoyed this a lot. Particularly the way the first and last two stanzas flow with each other with an effortless rhythm.

The third stanza stands beautifully on its own, but disturbs the rhythm you created in the rest of the piece.

Overall though, very nice piece and something I can relate to as well. Keep it up!

There must have been a tinge of foreboding in the clouds - as your reflections from the raid carry a message of regret and sadness. Great read and wonderfully poignant write - ... :-)
