You, who knows everything Can you tell me why we try? Can you speak what your truth says And break down your fabulous lies
And tell me why And tell me how And tell me now
For I haven’t the patience to wait for you To explain your cryptic ways to me And I haven’t the time to hear your babbles Of all the world’s greatest mysteries
So will you tell me lies? Or will you tell me truly? If you even know honesty
You speak as though sophisticated You speak as though you know And all the facts that say you’re wrong You carefully, considerately forgo.
So ask me to go If I’ve offended you If my words are too true
Now. You, who knows everything You, who’s wisdom river overflows Throw back your petty esoteric disguise And show us what you know
And let your words glow Proving them truly wise Or is it all just petty lies?
I read somewhere once that it takes a higher IQ to concoct an elaborate lie or tale, than it does to tell the truth. I've always wondered if there was any merit to it, but overall, when I meet people like what this piece so wonderfully describes, I tend to feel sorry for them. Because either they are someone who's walked a path where they felt like they always had to make up some new story or lie just to feel alive, or they are really smart and they are choosing to be stupid.
These days when I run across one of these types, I tend to just smile and nod at their blather, until I can politely get up and leave them to their own mental musings.
The piece was writen really well, with a good flow and I believed it achieved it's goal.
Great Ink! Thanks for sharing!

paints a picture of someone who likes to play games with people. you've seen through all that rhetoric and tell them you have no time for games. excellent job.

Words from a honest heart that would like to know the truth.....That kept asking And tell me why
And tell me how
And tell me now
So good a poem...I love it very much
So true Super I must admit, but you know what? I think we all drift and fall off the honesty route occasionally, and do sound knowitallish (how 'bout that for a new word) at times ...see. Kinda human nature.
I think the gift, however, is being able to recognize that and work to become a better person........daily.
I loved this poem and enjoyed your slant and near rhyming throughout. Had a real nice flow to it.
Excellent, and honest write Super.

Thank you for your review. It's true people can be that way, but, some people take it too far. :)

Those questions in your verse sum up much of what you're saying...Life has a way with saying things...tactfully...At times people stretch the truth for a better outcome...a decisive factor...a lie to them...no...a fib of words...yes...There will be people who will point blank say something is right...right in front of you and everyone that's listening...just to feel the center of attention...becomes habit forming...when it's clearly wrong...I tend to just go along with those people and kindness kills them types instantly...you let them win...and the game is over...they go away to others that will cling to them....

Oh yes, completely relateable. Who hasn't met the one that knows it all.

These lines above especially, I hate that narcissistic attitude. Who even when the sky is blue will fight that it's green. (Oh- I think I'm going to use that to write something- ha ha) Thanks for the inspiration.
Well-spoken piece. But here's the thing. People wouldn't lie if it weren't so effective. People lie to avoid physical harm, and so we will give them a pass. People lie to avoid hurting others, and they get a sometimes pass. But I think the kind of liars you point to are those who lie because people want to believe that someone has all the answers. These people lie because we want them to.

This is all true. But, to be fair, this poem isn't about lies.
