The Poppies

The Poppies

A Poem by Solomon

Somewhere beyond these auburn hills
of a million sunning flowers,
there’s a place that I once loved
among the green side.

Pour milk into my burning lungs
to sooth a swollen heart,
to fix what might have broke,
on the wayside.

A ship left with all my pretty flowers
to somewhere lost in blue,
I pray she made it safe
to the far side.

I also liked the poem, especially its rhythm, the melancholy is not intrusive, its calm and hoping.

Amen. :-)
This is poised so poignantly...pain, longing, melancholy conveyed so gracefully...it whispers straight to the heart.
