A Poem by fern

I was excited to turn 13.
I was excited to call myself a teenager.
I was excited to go to high school.
I was excited to go to parties.
I was excited to not be so sensitive.
I was excited to not wear a horrible green uniform.
I was excited to wear a tie.
I was excited to meet new people.
I was excited to live life like in the movies.
I wasn't expecting this.
I wasn't expecting spots.
I wasn't expecting periods.
I wasn't expecting depression.
I wasn't expecting to be outed.
I wasn't expecting to lose my best friend.
I wasn't expecting self harm.
I wasn't expecting this.
Take me back.
Take me back to primary school.
Take me back to Miss Frew who'd braid my hair each morning.
Take me back to Charlie.
Take me back to the gravel in the playground everyone would fall on.
Take me back to Golden Time on Friday afternoons.
Take me back to Tilly and Jasmine who'd play catch with me at break time.
Take me back to when I was happy.
