![]() As perfect as can beA Poem by Victory MoskalyukAs Perfect as
can be “A place like any other”
some would say Yet something about it made
it stand out Maybe it was the strange way
they talked Or the unusual wardrobe Maybe the wisdom each showed
even at young age Or the peace they maintained
during the most tragic times Even the fondness they
showed for an unseen God But it was the small things
that stood out to me The things most wouldn’t take interest in
This place was named “Tin
Can Alley” Now these people were quite
ordinary They fought amongst
themselves Yet they always apologized
and knew how to forgive They experienced heartbreak
and felt grief Still not once were they
alone For each comforted one
another And treated each like a
beloved sibling They put each above
themselves Not because of necessity or
respect But willingness to serve and
give They took pleasure when
giving And though they rarely had
extra money for extras They didn’t complain They seemed content to live
their lives as they were Even the smallest were happy
with there present state They rejoiced when helping
someone else They went stargazing each
clear night Yet felt an awe they
couldn’t explain Followed by a rush of
emotion because of the love they felt From their unseen God They faced hardships But instead of giving up They clung stubbornly onto
their faith And sang bright praises to
him They smiled constantly And strove to become better
people They had high hopes Yet they trusted in Gods
plan for each Their houses were always
open for strangers They were always happy Their hearts ablaze with an
inner joy and peace And though they were simple
and meek They made a difference in so many peoples lives
Now these are the people of
Tin Can Alley Quite ordinary Yet at the same time special and unforgettable © 2014 Victory MoskalyukAuthor's Note
