You Never Once Said Sorry
A Poem by sunlight
tales of the past..
The sidewalk felt cold against my face.
Blood dripped silent on gray, night time paths.
Over and over,
The hands and legs
Rained down,
Numb.
A man shouted,
Pulls him away.
'Leave her alone.
Echoes in my bruised ear.
Voices raised,
I drift
Outside my body.
Alone.
Eyes blurred, glasses
Swept and lashed
Out
Thrown as a drowned puppy
Into rivers unforgiving.
Alone.
Arms pulled
Friends faces
Concern.
And I awake
On a couch ridden
Swollen faced morning,
In mid November.
Alone.
The workplaces questioning eyes
Are answered with ;
Drunken Fall!
Bus stops.
Homeward bound.
Couch ridden.
Look into your face.
The one that isnt bruised.
Yet swollen with wordless regret.
That you hadnt done more damage than you had.
