'Alter' loveA Poem by Sunayana NairDelving on the concept of love and its dualities - as different as day and night but one that seeks the other; at times unrequitted or lost, at other, an inner conflict as in self-love/acceptance...He shut his heart to the world that had come to
define his, Like the sky that sieves the light that once defined its enormousness, This night’s womb though was barren without the promise of a
dawning day; The leaves, the wood faded into oblivion " both
indistinguishable, The flowers having lost its charm both - to the bees and the
beholder, Life, refused acknowledgement, trailed in the background; Nights passed and so did Time, Though HE had but just lived a part. Enveloping disparate universes while containing her world
within them, Her heart galloped at a frenzied pace, eager to expend all
that she had been left with, Like the sun born to give; its tumultuousness though,
palpable only within, Her days though never ending were without meaning, Neither beauty nor wonder abound her luminance, A rose as worthy as a daisy; None more superlative than the other, Life, losing significance, stirred in the foreground Days passed and so did Time, Though SHE had but just lived a part. © 2014 Sunayana Nair |
