Say Fromage

Say Fromage

A Poem by Poetic Shambles

Sugar in my coffee

to make it bittersweet,

a Spanish toffee apple

dipping fluids in defeat,

looking for answers

hidden underneath your clothes,

to feel a sense of yearning

from that of an English rose.

Sometimes it feels right,

but most of the time wrong,

like drinking something hot

feel it slowly burn the tongue,

and sometimes a good plant

will grow out of a bad seed,

but we lose our sense of direction

by letting the blind take the lead.

I hear that nostalgia

isn’t what it used to be,

but I suppose the same can be said

about you and about me,

and while I wish you the best

in all of future’s tests,

my errors in speech,

they no longer belong to thee.

:) There is a foundation of wisdom lying underneath these pretty words...a lovely portrayal of people nearing the parting roads...I have heard a wise one say that when two must part it is because they have learned and taught each other all that there was to be learned and taught..this is truly lovely..

You can write some great poetry. I will go to your facebook. We need more writers and dreamers. I like the words in this poem. A excellent poem.

"my errors in speech,
they no longer belong to thee."

I felt the last line to be more compelling than the rest of this one, but it still has many merits and I must applaud you as a writer for getting to that last line, which I would love to have on my gravestone one day. I like how you bounce around from spanish toffee to english rose and stick with those images. well done

That was a strong ending to a solid poem... letting go of love is not easy and the last thing you need is the person telling you how you should handle it.

The end seemed a bit random to me, but otherwise, I really liked this piece- the contradictions and fleeting thoughts were all wonderfully expressed, and as usual, all extremely original.

Excellent piece. :)
