If asked of America...A Poem by elleFrom my Point of View...I sit under the moon sipping small amount of cheap Shiraz. Fancies tickles as I faintly play sounds of Jason Mraz. 'As the World Turns' is a more fitting name for our planet! Media filled with theatrics and soap opera-ish antics. Another Black man killed by cops...I can't even cry. I pray for their mothers as the news spreads all of their lies. Suppose his skin was a weapon, his fear portrayed as aggression. And the cop beats the case, America dodges another life lesson. Media quick to tell us about A Kardashian's new favorite food. And I'm watching TV like 'Is this s**t really news?!' Somehow social media has folks fascinated with stranger's lives. But I find minding my business to be much more wise. I fear technology is interchangeably an angel and demon. Dependent upon how we authorize its usage and perceive it. Society teaching us that lust is better than love. I know our elders as shaking their heads from way up above. Whats the meaning in it all? I'm sure no one really knows. Never recall seeing gay propaganda so explicit in kid's shows. I support all unions, let all consenting adults unite as one! But how the hell am I suppose to explain certain s**t to my son? History's text filled with lies of things that don't seem true to us. As old white men voting on what a woman should do with her uterus. Hard to see the glass as half full when your heart is growing empty. As I battle the evils raging outside and within me. Contradicting energy- spirit gold but feelings? Very numb. As I fear for the mental health of the generations to come. (If we can keep the f*****g planet alive for that long, that is!)
