Princess in the Highest Tower

Princess in the Highest Tower

A Poem by elle
"

She will save herself.

"

The scent of your cologne still lingers in my sheets.

I deeply inhale the pillow you rested on, your pheromones send me to an euphoric state.

I want to spill a tear of two, but I become paralyzed.

No missed calls...you've vanished again.

How foolish I am to have not seen.

You flee when we become too attached.

As the sparks fly, you began to plan your escape route.

I am a doll in a glass case, here yearning for your touch and unable to fully blossom.

You'd rather keep me hanging than to hold me close to your heart.

How selfish can you be, my dear?

There's a fire in our joining, yet you continue to summons rain.

It is then that I realize, this is all deeper than me.

O how I cannot mend wounds that I have not caused, nor that you are willing to truly reveal.

A candle is lit to send you love and light.

As today's feelings are as useless as yesterday's broken promises.
