In a Perfect World

In a Perfect World

A Poem by elle
"

Beloved fantasies that we try to project into reality.

"
Can we pretend that if even for a moment, the the things that hold us back from exchanging a pure, unwavering love do not exist?

The wounds from old lovers that have yet to fully heal

Our fears of committing to the wrong one and losing it all

The insatiable urge to run before things progress too deeply

Imp of perverse telling us to destroy it before it destroys us!

All while dodging the temptation of infidelity like bullets that aim for the other's heart with no remorse of who is struck in the process

Or worse, being left all alone to pick up the pieces as the world still turns

Can we pretend, that if even for a moment that we are healed and whole?

That we are bulletproof from all emotional pains

Lets let the electric currents of love execute us together, for once and for all...

WOWWW. This poem is absolutely amazing and speaks so so much truth for almost everybody. I especially love the line about infidelity and relating it to bullets. I love how you didn't deny that many people are tempted, but in doing so also didn't write it in a way that romanticizes cheating.
