SummerA Poem by Sun DogHere's the third in the series. The weather has changed There are days when the humidity The tension in the air between us Rises with the mercury In our veins Briefly shattering the moments We’ve counted behind us Still my leaves are greener than they have ever known My roots have spread firmly in all directions I have achieved a fullness a strength a value which is newly recognized We’ve weathered several squalls That threatened our summer with raging Skies and stinging rain But they passed as quickly as they appeared Right now our sun is at its zenith And warms us mostly With the taste of life We worship one another Understanding that tomorrow may bring another storm But today is as quiet and tender As the purple of dawn nudging the night sky From behind the distant horizon
