UntitledA Poem by KristinShe lies on her back Unawakened by the cold She dreams of an attack How could they be so bold? She questions every turn Listens to what her mother told Endless stories of the future burn her father use to scold She dreams of colorful beauty A way to resist further pain Honesty That’s the best policy She’s unfamiliar with the story Of Jack and Jill gone wrong She listens for the words But somehow they have gone She tempts herself with cigarettes A challenge with some bets Holding onto what she kept A secret from the rest Inside her heart is pumping But she waits for restlessness Her eyes shut involuntarily Into a sweet atmospheric bliss © 2011 Kristin |
