The DesertA Poem by KristinThe desert must feel soft and warm But her skin is dry and cracked She dreams of lilac flowers And of a sleep she lacks The desert must mean heat A constant pink across her nose Peeling shoulders and fast paced beats But she longs for winter crows The desert has a tan glow A landscape full of mystery Rough sand and calloused feet She hopes I can be free The desert holds optimism A chance for a beginning But all she remembers is goodbye An ending all too quickly The desert shows some sympathy The tears she cries at night A simple hope she can’t receive The trees she wishes she could see The desert must be war Where separation occurs No love can stand a chance In the sand so soft and warm
