Sunday Morning

Sunday Morning

A Poem by Kristin

It’s a Sunday morning
A fresh breeze fills around me
Like a constant wave of escape
I learn to recognize its fate

This morning feels like forever
But with you its so easy to say never
When your promises mean nothing anymore
Like one easy way to shut the door

It’s a Sunday morning and your late
A meaningless time
I said forever but you just couldn’t wait

A silent memory awaits you

But all you said was goodbye

Outside birds are fluttering
Escaping into trees
My mind just wants to leave
but all my heart can do is grieve

It’s a Sunday morning in August
A hot stillness calms the air
A blackened gaze fills your eyes
I can’t find it in me to care

All a headache needs is a break in the sky
A truth to twist a lie
Away from darkness and grey
A vibrant blue to take the day

It’s a Sunday morning and I'm waiting
For a honesty that’s far from true
Pristine smiles and forceful eyes
Hoping for you
