[Song] May we say, that the chain and clipped wings really suit you.

[Song] May we say, that the chain and clipped wings really suit you.

A Poem by Carlee
"

About a girl who is being told to Stand still, look pretty because that is the only thing that matters. It's weird and all over the place, the first song I've tried to write in awhile.

"

Cry no tears

Never show your fears

Always smile

Don't want to defile your image.

Stand still, look pretty.

Keep your priorities in line my lovely.

Back straight, eyes dead ahead.

Show no lack of attention--but not too much.

Fear naught young lady-- leave everything to us.

Stand still, look pretty.

We are going back to the old ways.

You will have just as much control now as then.

It is better this way.

You will look back on this day with joy a long time for now.

Stand still, look pretty.

Let us lay down your path for you.

Stand still, look pretty.

You shouldn't have to find your own destiny.

Complete freedom is overrated.

You know the story of Icarus, whom when set free fell to his doom.

But that shall not happen to you.

You, who are so lovely and fare.

The bars on your window are simply there to keep your wings from melting.

Happiness is what you make of it love.

Who says birds need to fly to be free and happy?

Like I said, this is the first song I have tried to write in awhile, so I'm open to contructive critique, whether it's about the content or how it should be sang etc. Everything in italics is said differently, I'm thinking either a background echo or a whisper.

i liked it. it shows how many people have their lives run by others to have them succeed. if the music was there, id say it was a retro pop song. good job
