What You GaveA Poem by SunshineYou gave me the laughter that slipped away, my good old smile of the sunshine that I missed so dearly, and don’t forget the energy of a speedy cheetah. Didn’t you miss the old me when there was so much lost? You were there and never gone. I would turn around and there you were… the very minute I needed you, was going to call you, and it felt like I could cry. Well, don’t forget the memories of strength and wisdom, the hope that things would be okay ‘cause here we are now, where every little detail, every little minute, and every laugh and bolt of energy is back in its proper place of faith. So, this is what you gave to me and I appreciate the gift. I couldn’t have asked for anything greater, but the support you gave to me. Don’t forget the laughter at all the jokes or the smallest smirks I would give to everyone. This is who I was, who I am….couldn’t be more proud of it. You gave me the new perspectives that were in the timeline of God’s decisions & look where I ended up… it’s in the lead ahead of the game- one step forward, never moving back again. This is how it feels to be me and don’t forget you’re talking to a girl who’s a fighting soldier you’re talking to a student that keeps on going and you’re talking to a friend, best secret-keeper in the world. So, this is who I am and what you gave and I certainly couldn’t have been more thankful. This is who I am & what you gave. © 2011 Sunshine |
