Flamed Torch

The night sky’s bright tonight

One thing I notice in that light of darkness

Is the shooting star scraping ‘cross the sky

 

There’s a light

and it’s the star

It reminds me

of a memory

when your flame

lit up the torch

inside my thoughts

 

It was hard to tell

what you meant at first

through your almost formed tears

and opinionated expression

but you seemed to catch

all of my attention

 

It was in the light of the flamed torch

that things finally seemed to click

into position, like a clock unbalanced

 

You are the light

and I am the torch

Together we create the sunshine

in this world, like a puzzle piece

finally connected into the place

it was searching for and found at last

Together our ideas slip into transition

on the paper at hand

and out into the world

to a better place

‘cause everyday

these are improvements to make

and together, we make the sun shine bright
