Annie, Are You Okay?

Annie, Are You Okay?

A Poem by December Blaize

[Help! Somebody help!]

Annie, what happened?
Annie, could you tell us please?
Annie, are you okay?
Annie, talk to us!

Annie, you're gonna be alright,
It's alright, he's gone now,
I won't let the bad things get you.
Annie, tell me you're okay.

[I'm not okay!  Get me out!
Get me out of this nightmare!
Somebody wake me up!]

Annie, you've taken a beating,
We'll get you fixed right up,
You'll be just fine in no time.
Annie's gonna be okay.

[No, oh no no no,
I don't want to do this,
Does this look okay to you?!]

Annie, you're safe now,
Don't worry, go to sleep,
Annie, this is killing me,
Tell me what is killing you.

[It haunts me, every moment,
Don't tell me that I'm okay,
Damn it, I'm okay!]

Annie, just tell me what happened,
You're gonna be alright,
Did he hurt you in any other way?
Annie, you gotta let somebody in.

Author's Note

December Blaize
I got the idea for this when I heard Alien Ant Farm's cover of "Smooth Criminal" by Michael Jackson. This is what happens in the days after Annie has been found, after being sexually assaulted.

The words in brackets & bold are Annie speaking.
