High Horses and Higher StandardsA Poem by December BlaizePlucking petals saying "I love him not at all inside", She's a walking disaster unfit to be a submissive bride, So she cuts all ties and leaves with no apologies, Laughing as she chooses a fate that was only hers to seize. He's a drab and overdressed statue lacking in luster, Overeager and set to win with all the charm he can muster, Looking vain and oh-so sure down on one weak knee 'Till she left him shocked with a diamond of his mother's money. With clicking heels and piercing eyes she boards the train That takes her far away from all that sneers in vain, On her way to dignified dreams and bright city scenes While he woos his mother's hand-picked small-town sewing queens. © 2012 December BlaizeAuthor's Note
