Eve of Destruction

Eve of Destruction

A Poem by December Blaize
"

Wasting away with you.

"

Bite my lip and hold me 'till I'm not afraid,
Love me in the midst of the masquerade,
I'll walk with you to the ends of the earth,
Keep me close and taste my worth.

You gave me a star for the dusk in my eyes,
I kissed the sky and hung you up in its lies,
We danced all night by the angel's tombstone,
Ran off together into the great unknown.

Tarnished silver hearts will never break,
Charlatans in repose will never wake,
Dreams of beauty untouched and untold
Haunt me peacefully in slumber's cold.

Passion like fire starts with just a spark,
This undying devotion burns on in the dark,
If I should die before the dream is at its end,
Take me home and hold me tight as I descend.

One word: genius

This reminds me of Florence + the Machine's "Cosmic Love," which describes love as being a destructive force that is so beautiful that it blinds you to anything else. Your word choice was excellent as usual; I agree especially with your last two lines. In the end, we all want to stay in love.
