silent comfort

silent comfort

A Poem by Summer Goldhawk

it is always the dark places i enjoy the most
curtains closed
door locked
lights off
the only light that was seen,
was a rectangular beam exposing my blank expression
scrolling past something that is supposed to be funny.

in the dark, i don't have to toy with the emotions
and expressions that people expect of me.

i find comfort in being isolated from the world,
covered with the three heaviest blankets i own
eyes staring at the ceiling
headphones in, drowning my ears with the same, melancholic song
