Cemetery AutumnA Poem by Summer Grace
Autumn moonlight
She wanders at twilight Among the falling leaves And fallen lives here Pondering yesterday Everyone who went Away to sleep in the Autumn mist below A stone, cemetery serenity So much more serene than Than she any can hope to own From faraway she’s Come to read the names And the dates of those who Shared her blood long ago But she wonders what she wanted To know reading those date It seems so long ago, too Long to really know, under the Red maple tree they lie Perhaps in peace Certainly in quiet That deepens with the Dusk as she turns to go away Into the world where they couldn’t stay She who has come from faraway To read these names of yesterday- © 2014 Summer Grace |
