May Girl

May Girl

A Poem by Summer Grace

Written May, 2012

Under the trees in May
A girl pauses today in the
Graveyard when it's May
Under the green grass

Another girl rests in May
She's the past today
Most would say, long
Gone away, two dates in

May written on her stone
So faraway, but so far from
Alone for a living girl is here
Today looking at her name

She's wondering and pondering
The life of the girl below
She's wishing she could be
Remembering what we can

Never know under the trees
And the ornate stone under
The living girl's gaze
She's alive again though

She was buried long ago
The wind stirs the trees
On a lovely May afternoon
The living girl looks up at

The sun in the blue as
The May girl rests in
The quiet and the mystery,
Tragedy, history-
