Why?

A poem I recently wrote.

Why do people sometimes

take hours to

make themselves

look good?

Why do they

put tons and tons

of make-up on their

face,

as if they are trying

to hide it?

Are they trying

to create

a façade?

Why do people

focus so intently

on how they look,

how their style

comes across to

others around them?

Beauty is something

that is taken so

seriously

in modern day

society,

and I ask you:

why?

Why are people

so worried about fixing

themselves

on the outside,

when they should

be focusing on

how they look

on the inside?

Isn’t that

what truly matters?

A person can

be the most

attractive person

alive,

but have a

black heart.

That is my challenge

to you:

focus on your

inner self,

not your

outer self,

and judge

others not

based on how

 they look,

but on their

heart,

what’s inside.

That is my challenge

to you.

do what you

will with it.

I don't know why.
I wish I did. Maybe I could help make people realize how they look is just perfectly fine if I knew WHY, but I don't know why. :(

I can really relate to this! Back in school the "pretty" girls were always the most popular, but had awful personalities.
