The Man and the Ocean

The Man and the Ocean

A Poem by Hermione

I stand on the edge
to look out on the sea
but I look for miles
and miles upon
and all I could see
is you, staring back at me.
I put my fingers to
white sand
and your name emerges
from under my hands
The sun embraces me
and smiles
but all I can feel is
your laughter
in the pit of my stomach.
Birds fly over head
their songs speak only of
your eyes, which
don't reach for me.
I sigh,
into the roar of
waves, crashing
like we are as to each other.
