Love Potion
A Poem by
Susan Siegel
Comparing love to poison.
Love is such a bipolar emotion. Filled with the madness from the potion. And yet we drink, gulp it down. Sinking in misery, we slowly drown. Some just take a sip, Just 'testing it out.' But they never find out What it's really about. Others take in shots to the back of their throats. As they continue their games and 'sow wild oats.' Some sip it slowly to savor the taste. Many drink it too quickly because of their haste. For there is no right way to swallow this potion. For this poison fluid is filled with emotion. The cup now in front of me, It's my turn to drink. I swallow it hungrily and pray not to think.

Lovely. Flows like a river. The rhyme scheme gives it a nice flair.
