To Touch The Sea

To Touch The Sea

A Poem by Sue
"

I wrote this after watching a friend of mine and her love of the sea which I share.....

"

She had the desire, that crisp winter’s afternoon

To touch the sea she missed so much

So far away in that inner city

Which temporarily she called her home

So we walked along the prom, and then

I sat and watched, like an indulgent parent

As she ran down to the water’s edge

Like an excited child

And I found myself thinking, as I waited patiently there

Of the growing awareness

Over the years

Of the One behind this beautiful scene

And so we both smiled, as we sat there together,

Of the joy it brought my jaded friend

Released at last from the concrete jungle

To taste the salty ocean air

Then she returned, her mission accomplished,

The triumph in her grinning face,

Once more connected with creation,

As we wearily went on our way home

Finely shared memories of a time when freedom, space, sea and happiness make spirits sing and.. fly!
This is such an empathic piece of witing. I sense it fact rather than fiction, if wrong - your way with words is first class, Sue.

A nicely written prose, Sue. The sea calling you I understand, I feel the same with the wilderness f the countryside

Aha that would explain it, nice that you live so close to it now.
And so we both smiled, as we sat there together,

your welcome hon
So sweet. Sometimes, just a taste of that which we love and miss can get us on down life's road for a while. Being a twenty year navy veteran, I can absolutely understand one's love for the sea.

Oh, gawrsh, c'mon.
Sue, I am not suprised this got published in Forward Press, you have captured the yearning we have to be at the ocean when we are prisoners in or modern caves. Well Done.
