Bird in a Guilded Cage

Bird in a Guilded Cage

A Poem by Sue
"

I wrote this whilst Princess Diana was still alive; it became even more poignant when she died...

"

A beautiful bird swings to and fro

Upon its metallic perch

Surrounded by bars

Enclosed within

While watchful eyes from the world outside

Observe its moves

Record and note its every song

And every whim

Unnoticed go the drooping feathers

The dirty prison

Water long past its sell by date

And moulding seed

Only in dreams does the bird break forth

From its ivory towers

Free from the steel and chains of mail

Like lightening speeds

I cannot make your world

A fortress around your heart

Go forth no longer bound together

Forever apart
