Hummingbirds

Hummingbirds

A Poem by Kaitlyn Stone

I'll be your good luck charm

if you'll be my prince

charming, isn't it?

the way our palms press

and legs lock around one another

vibrant vines lifting lovers

from empty valleys

into the tangle

of limbs within the sheets

of trees swaying in the rain

falling

streaming over our skin

watering our tongues

as we gasp for more

hope for more than the possibility

that this may

be something beautiful

that this

may be some-

one you can ground yourself in

and reach far underneath the soil

until

you can only describe what you feel

instead of what you see

and sense that the vibrations

and beats beneath the boundary

between what was and what might be

make a better melody

without any words at all
