To the End of a Long Day

To the End of a Long Day

A Poem by Subversive Reality

Sunset falls on a lonely street
Brazen orange light dancing
Playing its symphony of colour
Over pavement parchment
A grey drab daubed in spectacular hue
Giving beauty anew to this forest of concrete

Across the way an old woman
Folds her sheets sighing
As looking on to lost youth and crying
A single tear, not sadness,
But of joy at life long lived

Whilst the men and the women
travel back to their homes
After day worn in lasting
Of toil and fasting their free time
Chanced for a pay-check
To keep the roof overhead

The children from school,
And the older that skipped it,
The masses of people
Tie-die of persona
All waiting, all rushing
For that moment of rest
Before their night time slumber

Hi it reminded me of the wasteland by t s Eliot - we studied that quite a long time ago -
The poem was known for its imagery

Thank you for the poetry - it is like early 20th century poetry
You need to work on the imagery
