Fresh from the Void

Fresh from the Void

A Poem by Subversive Reality

Drifting, across conscious streams,
The subversive version,

Here it comes, cannabinoid saturate,
A new soul, fresh from the void

On it passes, through night silent,
A lightless vessel, the helmsman absent,

Now and forever passed,
In sense lost and blessing forgotten,
Downtrodden by auto-inflicted sorrow

The slashed and shredded tatters,
A torn tapestry of tearful times,
Tenacious, yet vulnerable prey,
To its own tumultuous terror

It is the mind of a man forged in cast iron

Rusted and crushed to dust by no needs must,

Testified in his own way of splaying his innards

On silver trays for finest guests of his tower

To devour in psychotic haze

His guests are those who reside inside,

The walls of his complex brain duplicated

To house a whole host of demons

Deprived of life, and hungry to self cannibalise

And though these alters are parcel part,

The start of his true thought commencing

Forth may not show the same,

And may not be to blame

So on he wanders, to promised pastures

Scarred by his own slash and burn,

Wondering if he will ever make or find,

His sanity certified

Amazing work. I always had an interest in poems like these, especially those by Edgar Allen Poe. Dark, symbolical, and somewhat offsetting, a truly terrific poem.

You do have lots of great lines in this and communicate an interesting perspective, it's kind of troubled and isolated and weird. There are lots of lines that require unraveling by the reader, a bit like the complications within the mind.
