Mental Health Solutions

Mental Health Solutions

A Poem by Subversive Reality

Don't label me a problem, doc

I need solutions
I'm not a kook, not a nutter
Nor a danger to society,
I'm no stranger to "normality"

Don't have me boxed in, doc
I need no category,
To file away under "C" for crazy
For those who wish to know their local
People of insane persuasion,

And as for the laymen
Who look on such labels
And cower in terror or judge
With weak scruples

We are not the problem you fear,
Not the broadcast fable,
You need not smear us
Tarred and covered,
In feathers white to warn the others

Both to you and us, for whom
No benefit is found,
In this current system,
Of stigma, misunderstanding inherent,
Treatment is likely hindered,
By simple attitude mistaken

So please, don't talk
About mental health problems,
Don't pen us down,

We are not a negative symptom, no
What we need,
Are mental health solutions
