Smoker

Smoker

A Poem by Subversive Reality
"

Those who have quit, I salute you!

"
Ah, cigarettes,
Wonderful things
I know, that's low,
Yet still I smoke them

Stub one out, in ashtray dirt
Ouch, finger burned
By splintering cherry
The least of my worries

Inhaled, the breath
Starved of air,
But chasing a level
Receptors calmed for now

Now, for ten or twenty minutes
Until I crave another
Carcinogenic coat,
Of stark displeasure
What a disgusting habit

Good write, 20 years quit. Now, when I see smokers I imagine dragons. I thank God often for the strength he gave me. It took a lot of pray and sunflower seeds to do it.
