Care, Please

Care, Please

A Poem by Kara Hadley
"

this is for a friend of mine. a dear dear friend. -enjoy-

"

Ears that will listen

Arms that will hug

Shoulders that will support

Who?

Me?

Always

A******s

And selfish jackasses

Are my friends

Hours spent worrying

Wasted

On people

Too inconsiderate

To call

And say

They’re not dead

Or kidnapped

Or killing themselves

Or getting molested

By a man twice their size

Who will shake the only feeling of security

They’ve had in years

Up the a*s

Crying

While the big man makes them bleed

But a call before you snort your mind away

Would be too hard

I understand

Why care about your friend

Who spent the night

Defending her decision to stick by you

And keep her promise

Like no one else has for you

Ever

While you become addicted

While you drain your soul

And become a shell

Of the amazing person you once were

And still have a chance to save

I’ll stick by you till the end

I’ll hold your hand while you’re going through withdrawal

I’ll be with you as you lay dying

And I’ll speak at your funeral

While your other friends are away

Getting stoned

And forgetting your face

I’ll do it all

But F**K! man

seriously
