Empty Fire

Empty Fire

A Poem by Kara Hadley
"

imagery. -enjoy-

"

Cold Clear Burning

contained in Weeping glass

stacks of my Life’s work

a match to a field:

Dryness Disappears

Protected by the Arms

that turn away from Fire

warmth consuming

loving by Destruction

away go the silly dreams of a lonely child

turning begrudgingly to a decided destiny

Walking on broken glass

that once held Burning desire

subconscious dictates to a deaf audience

mind’s eye sees poker faces

transparent in their futility

Unwanted dreams leave warm ice in their wakes

Fire replaces lukewarm veins

finding my center

Burns at first

then Sizzles and warms

felt first in my back

slowly

slowly

Traveling

Good-Bye to the world I never knew

Good-Bye to all who thought I should

beautiful Flames lick my veins

And I Feel soft
