![]() The Gray is GrowingA Poem by Kara Hadley![]() i was bored in class. -enjoy-![]()
Tomorrow will come, But today is all we have The world expands before my eyes, But I see only me The pulse of the living, Breathing, Pushes against my walls With every beat I get invaded And my claustrophobia worsens Bombed by my protectors, I weaken to a point The lies and truths fall to me Worlds leak in as laser beams And as a recluse I am afraid The tight rope walker balances On a single thread of dignity Below is a whirlpool of broken dreams And garage sale leftovers Arrows whiz past Missing by centimeters The gods smile down upon their toy And finally decide to end the game An arrow disguised as a paper clip Lands between her feet Pride spills forth from the now gray thread All falling to the old kitchen chairs And expired potential Lost among the rocks and shells A piece of glass rests Bluer than the sky In no specific shape When it was dropped and forgotten Baptized in blood Everything changes Heads turn People rediscover With every doubt it got shier, Softer, And more agreeable But the one place it would fit Is forever gone And now it wouldn’t match People’s lack of rhythm Push them to the shores The sun beats down And the water tries to forget When destiny would permit It joined the other outcasts And the sun lost interest The wounds healed The world spins on forever more Erasing all in its time © 2008 Kara HadleyReviews
