I'm Alive

I'm Alive

A Poem by Kara Hadley
"

an assignment. i had to start and end the poem with the same line. -enjoy-

"

I’m Alive
through everything
Come and Gone
here I lay
surrounded by Cold Sterileness
mechanical Music
that won’t stop
I’m never alone
always someone with me
watching me
my chest rises
and falls
Slowly
Steadily
in tune with the music
I’m a Puppet
Mastered by Machines
no one knows
I know what’s happening
what’s happened
the Pills
the Alcohol
both didn’t work
so here I lay
in a sleep
I don’t want to wake from
Ever
I’m Alive

Ooooooh.... I like this, I really do. It's got an irony to it. The way you know what's going on, but nobody else knows you know, and the way that you're alive--more alive than you want to be--are awesome themes. I didn't really get it until the middle to end of the poem, but that's okay; it made it all the better. You did a great job! :D
