Karen

A Poem by Kara Hadley
"

this is for my aunt. -enjoy-

"

No laughter
No smiles
waves crash fifty feet away
but no one Notices
fifteen people
counting seconds on couches
memorized dictionaries
Help not
No words
or phrases
can Express
Anything
small Talk?
Sure
the Ailing one sits
Black and White
in a Forced too bright World
fifty years ago today
a happy Day
a Kiss
a Cake
a pretty white Dress
Now
fifteen people
Sitting
Waiting
Wish this would end
life to go on
back on track
surrounded by Family
awkward seconds
Cherished?
soon to end
bad energy
the picture that was never taken
should never be taken
in my mind
I see
an aunt I never really knew
counting down the seconds
