Free Bird

Just because it's tradition, always done in one way, doesn't mean it is the only way to live life. Live free and express yourself without fear of being different than others who are stuck in the norm.

I use to live my life

in hopes of pleasing others.

Friends and family had a direct impact

on every decision made by me.

 

I felt like a canary trapped

in the smallest of cages.

Stuck in the fantasies of my mind.

Wishing I was anybody but me.

 

Time is the wises teacher of them all,

nothing in life ever remains the same.

Friends from past are long since gone.

Now, I am surrounded by people love.

 

I am free as a bird now,

and this bird you cannot change!

 

I chose who I love instead of love choosing me.

Understand that happiness begins from within.

Everything I do in life I do from my will.

Free choice isn’t a right; it is a way of life.

 

Come dance with me; release the chains off your feet.

Indulge in the endless joys that flow from your heart.

 

Empty out your bucket list.

Live life in the here and now,

for now is all that exists.

Release all fears and inhibitions.

 

open your mind and your mouth.

Take in air into your lungs.

Release your voice,

into the air of day and night.

 

Consume the energy, that mother earth,

let you borrow, giving you life.

Knowing that one day she will reclaim,

that energy and return you to earth.

 

So fly high and free, like a free bird

soaring between heaven and earth.

 

I am free as a bird now,

and this bird you cannot change!

i really like this piece. it is such an amazing life lesson and i wish i could grasp the lesson inside of me. i guess being taught something your whole life kinda messes that up. but this is really good. not hiding your true self and showing the world your spirit and soul is an amazing idea. you captured is fantastically. good job
