Starlight

Starlight

A Poem by James Reader

Starlight star bright how we used to gaze at night.
Where once we would huddle around fires that burned bright.
We laughed and danced and strolled through the moon light.
We would hear tales of morals, justice and mankind's fight.

But now the nights are gone replaced by artificial bright.
We stare at cell phones, tablets and flickering fluorescent lights.
Here we stroll through hallways and stairwells and subways alike.
Just to hear tales of murderers, rapists,Terrorists, religious plights.

Yet still you can see the beauty in everyday life.
We have had many painters, artist, dancers, musicians and scribes.
We have built wonders and marvels that rival the stars.
For now I wonder, I wonder who we truly are.
