The Goal of the GirlA Story by TonyThe man used the key beneath the mat to unlock the door. He threw his hat and jacket on the couch as he headed for the kitchen. Suddenly, he was aware of a squealing noise coming from the upstairs. It stopped and so he proceeded on to the fridge and took out a soda. As he opened it the sqealing began again, louder this time, and more urgent he thought. Adrenaline coursed through his veins as he shot up the stairs to his daughter's room. By now the squealing had changed to a vibrant, undulating, shrieking sound, as though there was a murder being committed. With a bound and a shoulder he crashed through the girl's door, brave father and rescuer. And there she sat, with her bagpipes. He gave her his disapproving look, and she said: Hey, someday I will play these pipes at Carnegie Hall.... so get used to it.
