don't be afraidA Poem by onlytemporary
I was never afraid of you, but I noticed the way your hands shook when I was near. Your lips would tremble when mine got close. I always thought you were nervous like we all get right before that first terrifying kiss. That first contact of skin on skin when our hands meet. Your breath would hitch when my hands met your waist; I always thought it was lust, but now I think it was the sound of you bracing yourself, hoping and praying that your walls wouldn't come crashing down around you, leaving you exposed. My skin is not fire, wanting to leave you burned. I'm not looking to leave my mark, I'm here to kiss the ones that people before me have already left.
