Inhale

Inhale

A Chapter by John Stussy

Bittersweet, you last on my lips,

A taste that lingers for moments on end.

So far I've been cautious, I know all your dangers.

But why should I keep giving a damn?

You've been there for me, you paper cartridges,

And yet I did not fully trust in you.

It's time to give in to suicidal abandon.

...

Ah, this is it, huh?

This is what

It feels like

To be yours?

This is the lingering taste of death,

The sensation of poison writhing inside.

I relish this feeling of letting go,

For nothing should matter anymore.

You're tugging me up, bringing me high,

Giving me wings for a swift escape.

Alas, I can't go, as much as I need it.

There's nine inch nails pegged through my feet,

Impossible weights and unforgiveable odds

Encasing me as a suit of lead.

Though you give me all that I've ever needed,

It's not enough, my toxic friend...

Death, you'll know where to find me in the end.

Honestly my friend, I am in love with your poetic style. Velvety. Sensuous and enlightening are words I would use to describe your word choice and the overall feel of the piece. Just really well done, it’s a treat to read your poems, they leave oneself with a sense of awe…

I only take exception to this because I am smoking right now, and drinking, and smoking something else, either way, Life is always the gate way drug to death.

Sounds like drunk driving through life, that toxic poison that drives you to the end.

'The only thing that was wrong with him
Was Johnny Walker's Red' comes to mind...

Love this, even if i'm way off, you have a way with words that is intriguing.

Very very good poem John, excellent final line. The blow by blow flow is amazing...I am sure many will identify with these sentiments.

My way to transcend such seemingly over powering odds against us, is this. A ressurrected expression of old days gone by...

Do the right thing and the right thing will be done. It works darling boy. No matter the odds, no one should bet on destiny, hand in hand with serendipity.

Smiling at you

Tai, glad you're back, but where have you been? x

What an amazing write , this relief of pain and death....I take it this is about drugs........of some sort, where one is owned by poison..........loved the imagery!

I read this at a frenetic pace, and was please to read towards the end NIN was referenced; a band known for its cutting edge Thrash style. The form is interesting. I would have used exclamation points at the ends of those rather graphic and moving lines.
I don't know if you wanted to leave it up to the reader to set the tone by not using punctuation marks. A method I employ.

Nice!
