The Shatterpoint

The Shatterpoint

A Poem by John Stussy
"

Any guesses who this is?

"

“Smooth and flawless you move soft fingers

Along a slender pane of blue glass.

Warm flesh caresses the cool surface

And you smile at the innocent feel.

Be gentle with your touch my dear,

Take note of the delicacy of this object.

I see mischief’s glint within your eyes,

But pay attention to this delicate matter.”

The man walks behind the woman

As she spreads her supple hands.

With masterful care his hands alight

On those of the innocent maiden.

Smiles appear on the faces of both

Whilst their hands dance together on glass.

“Show me then what importance is here

Within such a fragile artifact.

A mere flick upon its dainty surface

Can end this brittle blue beauty.”

A hand lifts readily with a slender smile,

Finger poised to strike destruction.

The ivory hand descends with intent,

Caught by the firm bronzed masculine hand.

Lips press against her neck gently,

Brushing her skin with a chuckle and whisper.

“Not just yet, be patient yet a while.”

Fingers are guided in an intricate dance.

“Simple destruction is pure child’s play.”

The glass seems to ripple beneath the lithe shifts.

“To see to the weakness, the heart of the matter.

Now there is the mark of a cunning master.”

One ivory hand is raised to her heart,

Held calmly by the tanned one.

On the deep blue of the glass

White and brown sway as one.

Their eyes close in peace

And she lets him lead her,

Showing her the critical place

Where he stops their waltz.

“I assume we are here

At the point where we strike?”

Her hand lies ready,

Poised to assault.

The whispered affirmative

Sends her hand down fast and precise.

From the single tap placed proficiently

A multitude of fractures spider throughout.

As random as they are consistent,

The delicacy belies the resilience.

“A well placed action can start anything,

Untold paths created from a plane of none.

Secrets told to destroy anything

Or to create everything.

Learn these things sweetest one

And an able apprentice you shall make.”

A knowing grin upon her pretty face

Escapes the notice of the doomed.

I don't know who Vivian and Merlin are but after reading this I want to.
You had me hooked from the beginning. The very first stanza was spell-binding. I was going to highlight as my favorite one because it stands as beauty on its own, but they all do. Wow. Wow. Wow.
Awesome, sweetie just Awesome!!
