Symphony of a Clown

Symphony of a Clown

A Poem by John Stussy
"

..... I need some serious help if I get as much enjoyment writing things like this as I did with this one. And NO, it's not about IT! Make that allusion and I'll castrate and/or behead you! :P Or at least, I'll wish I could.

"

Play those sweet blues old boy,

Cry your tears in that corner.

I’m feedin’ off that melody

Of your pain-wracked sobs.

Seein’ your delectable agony

It’s makin’ my mind feel great

As I pull myself every which-way

Trying to decide which path to take.

You see all these fishin’ lines?

I’ve got different deteriorations,

All sweet in their blissful roads,

Each with another’s death in the end.

Hmmm…

Should I go down yonder,

Where the little girl’s screams

Sing like a siren’s call,

Damned near irresistible?

No, wait, there’s your wife, there!

The agony of seeing her,

Her witnessing your captivity,

Now THAT would be a nice cacophony!

Your voices blending in harmony

With screams of mirrored misery!

Sing my little tortured souls,

Sing for the composer of this Hell,

Give voice to your torment,

And make this demon clown

A performance rivaling Satan’s own song!

Perhaps it is because I am just a tad, just a wee bit, just a smidgen twisted - but this did not give me shivers; it made me smile, one of those smiles that make children and adults alike wet their pants. It left me to think of all the tangled webs, the threads we weave into the lives of those around us, and all the games that people play. How just the right words and right actions can lift somebody up so high with the brightest of smiles, only so we can rip it all away - letting them fall, so hard - so fast - to the curb. How we relish their agony and their suffering, how it allows us to hide from our own. Yes, all the games that people play - so that they do not have to deal with their own issues - that perverse pleasure they take in sharing their pain with others... this was an awesome piece (even if the mere mention of a clown makes me think of IT)...

I must say this is absolutely amazing.
Dark and taseful.
And very vividly written.

YIPES! too right, that picture she's got up is sinister...I can see the Alice cooper allusions in this one, though I wish I couldn't *shivers* eerrgg, that's the last contest I'm entering for stark raving morbidity, and PAH if you think my paltry, pequeno poetry can stand to this behemoth. *rubs goosebumps away* gracious!!
